Our Commitment To Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect
your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices
and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and
used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage
and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.
We recognize that the good will of the individuals
who agree to be interviewed is the lifeblood of the survey research Industry,
and we take it as our duty to protect the identity of individual respondents as
well as what is known as "respondent-identifiable information" from disclosure
to third parties - including government agencies, sales organizations, the
public or media - unless we are legally compelled to do so.
LatinoEyes.com® engages in Marketing Research only
LatinoEyes.com® conducts surveys of various kinds
among its panel members and their families. LatinoEyes.com® sells nothing to
its Members. No member of the LatinoEyes.com® panel will ever be asked to buy
anything because of their participation in LatinoEyes.com®.
Surveys on LatinoEyes.com® are designed to be used
solely in opinion research. Research topics may include, but are not limited
to, advertising, products, services, hobbies, interests, health, family
relationships, and life experiences. LatinoEyes.com® surveys are not sales
efforts, nor will information offered in a LatinoEyes.com® survey ever be used
in a direct sales effort to the members of the Latino community who participate
in the survey.
Information from LatinoEyes.com® surveys will be
used by our clients to market products or services to the general population
and the Latino community, and to develop advertising or marketing programs for
the Latino community, but our clients will never be told the identities of any
participants in any LatinoEyes.com® survey.
How we communicate with panel members
Communication between LatinoEyes.com® and its
Members is done via e-mail, using an e-mail address supplied during the sign-up
procedure. Most LatinoEyes.com® surveys are conducted on the LatinoEyes.com®
website, but we may occasionally conduct surveys at other sites operated by one
of our clients or partners. If we do, that site will adhere to LatinoEyes.com®
standards and policies.
"Chat-based" surveys
From time to time LatinoEyes.com® may conduct
chat-based surveys in which several members can discuss issues in real time
with a moderator. During these surveys the moderator will remind members not to
disclose their names, addresses, or other personal information. Moderators will
avoid asking questions that would require a participant to divulge personally
identifiable information, and will warn any participant who volunteers such
information to stop. Only LatinoEyes.com® panel members, employees of
LatinoEyes.com® or it's corporate parent, C&R Research Services, Inc., our
clients, or sub-contractors of LatinoEyes.com® who have agreed to abide all
LatinoEyes.com® privacy standards will be allowed to participate in these
survey sessions. The dialogue from these survey sessions may be read by clients
or sub-contractors of LatinoEyes.com®, both in real time and after the fact.
The Information We Collect and How It Is Used
This notice applies to all information collected or
submitted on the LatinoEyes.com® website.
We collect three kinds of information: (1) the
opinions of the LatinoEyes.com® community about issues of interest to us or our
clients, (2) background information about the LatinoEyes.com® community, and
their households, and (3) personally identifiable information about the people
who are registered members of the LatinoEyes.com® panel. The way this
information is used is as follows:
1. The opinions of LatinoEyes.com® community about
issues of interest to us or our clients.
These questions may cover any number of areas, but
generally will involve products or services and advertising related to those
products and services. Examples of such products and services include food
products, beverages, websites and other Internet services, TV shows, movies,
music, sports, styles and trends.
Opinions are reported in aggregate only - 43% of
LatinoEyes.com® members thought this-or-that, or 23% of LatinoEyes.com® members
over 30 were aware of something-or-other. This information will be shared with
our clients without identifying the identity of any individual.
2. Background information about the households.
During the process of registering to become a
member of the LatinoEyes.com® panel those over the age of 18 will be asked a
number of questions about themselves and their households. Some of the types of
background information that we collect include, but are not limited to:
o How frequently do you watch Spanish-language
television shows, compared to English-language programs?
o How many different generations of family live in
your household, from what country did your family originate?
o What are the ages of the various people in your
household, and what are their education levels.
This information is used as background
information, so that we can determine which members of your household should be
invited to the surveys we conduct, and to better interpret survey findings. For
instance, if we were to conduct a survey about cable TV shows for Latinos
25-54, we would need to invite Latinos whose households had cable service and
members between the ages of 25-54.
Background information is combined with opinion
data and reported in aggregate only - for instance, we might report that, "43%
of all survey participants have watched some television show, but among those
with cable or satellite TV service, this rose to 64%."
3. Personal information and information that,
although it may not itself identify an individual, can be used to do so.
When someone registers their household to become a
member of the LatinoEyes.com® panel, we collect personal information in order
to communicate by mail, e-mail or telephone with that household.
LatinoEyes.com® may share information with a
fulfillment (mailing) house in order to send gifts or prizes to LatinoEyes.com®
panel members, or to vendors or subcontractors engaged in data management for
LatinoEyes.com®. A fulfillment house will be given only the information
necessary to perform their duties - for instance, name and postal address
information to use in a mailing - not answers to survey questions or other
similar data. Any fulfillment house or other vendor managing a LatinoEyes.com®
program will agree to be bound by the privacy rules and restrictions contained
in this notice.
The types of personal information that we collect
are:
o First and last name
o Members of household first and last name
o Registered member's screen name or user name
o Mailing address
o E-mail addresses for all registered members
o Phone number
We will never use or share the personally
identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones
described above unless required to do so by subpoena, or without first
obtaining explicit permission to do so, and providing an opportunity to opt out
or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
Can members of the panel ever communicate directly
with one of LatinoEyes.com® client companies?
LatinoEyes.com® does not provide this service. Most
of our clients maintain websites and 800 numbers, and publish mail or e-mail
addresses for this purpose, and these can be found in many public directories
or using web search tools, such as www.google.com.
Our Commitment To Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data
accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place what
we believe to be appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to
safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
